Dental Checkups & Cleanings

Every six months, you are encouraged to visit our office for a regular dental checkup and cleaning. Dr. Patrino and one of our skilled hygienists will discuss your concerns, goals, and unique needs before carefully viewing digital images of your mouth as well as performing a visual examination. Based on their findings, they will recommend additional treatment to address common oral health problems (i.e., cavities, decay, gum disease, etc.).

You can also expect them to clear out accumulated plaque and tartar from your teeth and gums to lower the possibility of gum disease before polishing your smile so that it looks and feels better than before.

Nightguards for Bruxism

Bruxism is the clinical term used by dentists to describe the harmful habit of teeth grinding and clenching. It causes enamel erosion, jaw pain, and tooth sensitivity. Dr. Patrino can curb these issues with a customized nightguard, though. Using impressions taken of your smile, a clear appliance similar to a traditional mouthguard is crafted and worn over your top row of teeth. Its ability to alleviate pressure and prevent further damage can lower the risk of needing invasive and extensive treatment later on.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is a common ingredient found in tap water and many oral hygiene products (i.e., toothpaste, mouthwash, etc.). If you are prone to dental decay and cavities, we can administer fluoride treatment during a dental checkup for added smile protection. When applied to the surfaces of your teeth, the fluoride will prevent further decay from forming as well as remineralize existing enamel, making it stronger and more resilient to harmful, cavity-causing bacteria.

Gum Disease Treatment

Adult tooth loss is most commonly attributed to gum disease – an infection that forms in the soft oral tissues that support teeth. Affecting half of the adults in the United States, its symptoms can begin with bleeding while brushing and flossing and quickly advance to bone and tooth loss. With scaling and root planing, though, our team can remove troublesome bacteria and create a space that makes it harder for reinfection to occur.
